An improved trigger for Askaryan radio detectors

High-energy neutrinos with energies above a few $10^{16}$eV can be measured efficiently in-ice radio detectors which complement optical such as IceCube at higher energies. Several pilot arrays explore the technology successfully in Antarctica. Because of low flux and interaction cross-section it is vital to increase sensitivity detector much possible. In this manuscript, different approaches trigger on high-energy are systematically studied optimized. We find that improved substantially (by more than 50% between $10^{17}$eV $10^{18}$eV) by simply restricting bandwidth frequencies 80 MHz 200 instead currently used ~1 GHz bandwidth. also compare schemes being (a simple amplitude threshold, high/low threshold power-integration trigger) scheme performs best depends dispersion detector. These findings inform design future Askaryan significantly without any additional costs. The apply phased array concept.
